Queensland’s aquatic sector is set to benefit from a powerful new collaboration aimed at tackling workforce shortages and building a more sustainable future for the industry.
AUSTSWIM has joined forces with the Active Queenslanders Industry Alliance (AQIA), Royal Life Saving Society Queensland (RLSSQ) and SWIM Coaches & Teachers Australia (SWIM) to deliver the Queensland Aquatic Workforce Attraction and Retention Program. The program is supported by the Queensland Government’s Department of Employment, Small Business and Training under the Growing Workforce Participation Fund.
The program will help swim schools attract, train, and retain Queenslanders for a range of aquatic roles, including swim teachers, lifeguards, coaches, pool operators and customer service team members. It will create clear entry pathways for 150 new job seekers and provide professional development for 75 current employees, ensuring long-term workforce participation and retention.
AUSTSWIM CEO Brad Maunsell said the initiative reflects a shared commitment to the future of aquatic education in Queensland.
