Some recent changes to the Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) requirement which falls under the additional requirements for License Accreditation with AUSTSWIM.
These changes have arisen due to an update to the interpretation of the requirements for CPR as outlined within the Guidelines for Safe Pool Operations (GSPO) (RLSSA © 2018), published by the Royal Life Saving Society Australia (RLSSA), and secondly due to an update to the accredited units of competency HLTAID001 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation and HLTAID003 Provide first aid (which encompasses CPR). Both units of competency were superseded on the 15th October 2020 as published on the National VET Register, and with this, they can only be offered as a standalone unit of competency up to the 14th October 2021.

HOW DO I FIND OUT IF I HAVE THE CORRECT REQUIREMENTS?
During the transition period outlined above, which concludes on 30 June 2021, AUSTSWIM will accept any CPR documentation listed above as evidence of meeting the CPR requirements. From 1 July 2021 onwards, only documentation listed under "New CPR Requirements" will be accepted as evidence of meeting the CPR requirements.
Please note: To ensure that the AUSTSWIM website reflects the most up-to-date information regarding CPR requirements, only the documentation listed above under "New CPR Requirements" will be visible. However, AUSTSWIM will continue to accept all documentation listed above up to 30 June 2021.
To note, a CPR qualification is valid for a period of 12 months only. A copy of your CPR qualification must be current when submitted to AUSTSWIM as part of your additional requirements to support your request for an AUSTSWIM license. The CPR documentation provided must also be able to verify or certify that you have undertaken the required CPR qualification. In line with this, if the documentation you provide is in the form of an editable PDF certificate, you will be required to provide additional supporting documentation to verify its authenticity. An example of this may be an accompanying letter from your RTO provider to confirm your course details and completion date.
If you are unsure if the CPR certificate you hold will meet the requirements, or have any further questions about your licence accreditation or renewal, please do not hesitate to get in touch and our team will be able to assist.
We wish you all the very best in your course completion.
