A Heartwarming Journey of Perseverance and Community Support

On July 15th, 2024, we had the honor of presenting Chip with his AUSTSWIM Swimming and Teacher Licence. This milestone marks a significant achievement in Chip's life and stands as a testament to the power of community support and inclusivity.

Chip's journey to becoming a Licensed AUSTSWIM teacher exemplifies the remarkable impact that a supportive and inclusive community can have.

By providing someone with a disability the opportunity to pursue his passion and contribute meaningfully to his community, Steph, AUSTSWIM, Belgravia Leisure, and Clare have not only enriched Chip's life but have also touched the lives of those around him.

Steph, the Swim School Coordinator at Wollondilly Community Leisure Centre, played a pivotal role in making Chip's dream a reality. Recognising his passion and potential, Steph saw an opportunity to empower Chip and worked diligently to support him throughout his journey. Her dedication and belief in Chip's abilities were instrumental in his success.

The collaboration between AUSTSWIM and Belgravia Leisure was crucial in providing Chip with the necessary training and licence to become a qualified swim teacher. Clare, who delivered the course, contributed significantly to Chip's achievement by ensuring he received the knowledge and skills needed for his new role.

Chip's impact on his students is profound. The children in his swim class adore him, and their disappointment when he's not there speaks volumes about the positive influence he brings. Chip's presence as a co-teacher not only enhances their swimming experience but also fosters a sense of connection and admiration among his students and the broader community.
