AUSTSWIM is calling on Aussies to go blue on Tuesday, 25 July 2023, for World Drowning Prevention Day.
According to WHO (World Health Organisation), drowning has caused over 2.5 million deaths in the last decade. The overwhelming majority of these deaths (90%) happen in low-and middle-income countries. Globally, the highest drowning rates occur among children aged 1–4 years, followed by children aged 5–9 years.
Tuesday the 25th of July 2023 is World Drowning Prevention Day. AUSTSWIM is committed to raising awareness around drowning prevention by teaching vital swimming and water safety skills, and we aim to recruit and educate as many new teachers in the sector as possible.

Even though it is winter here in Australia, World Drowning Prevention Day is an incredibly important reminder that anyone can drown, but no one should. Drowning is a public health issue, and we can all play a role in taking action to drastically reduce the number of people drowning.
Swimming and water safety starts with us, and at AUSTSWIM, we believe that everyone has the right to be safer in, on and around water. We are committed to providing a skilled workforce across the country – and that’s why our Summer Teachers Are Made In Winter campaign is so important to us. By joining AUSTSWIM, you will help us educate today for a safer tomorrow.
AUSTSWIM is continuing our Summer Teachers Are Made In Winter initiative, giving candidates the chance to complete all requirements and be fully licensed to teach a skill for life.
To assist in this aim, this August, AUSTSWIM is offering selected Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety courses across the country for just $299.
Become an AUSTSWIM teacher this August and join the lifeblood of swimming and water safety programs across Australia. Terms & Conditions apply.
